Radiator Repair & Bleeding
Almost every house with radiators has one room that is colder than the rest, and almost everyone living there has decided it is just how the house is. Usually it is not — it is air, a valve, or a system that has never been balanced.
Air, and why it keeps coming back
Bleeding a radiator takes a minute and anyone can do it. The useful question is why there was air in it, because a system that needs bleeding every few weeks is drawing air in somewhere or losing water somewhere.
That is a fixable fault with a cause, and chasing it down is worth more than the bleeding is.
The room that never gets warm
When one radiator stays cold at the far end while the rest of the house is fine, the usual suspects are a failed valve, a blockage, or a system where the nearest radiators are taking everything before the flow gets that far.
Balancing a system so that the far end gets its share is genuinely satisfying work, and it costs nothing to run afterwards.
Steam radiators are their own thing
On a steam system a cold radiator is usually a vent or a trap, not air that needs bleeding — and bleeding a steam radiator the way you would a hot water one is a good way to get hurt.
