Plumbing & heating in Providence

Providence is several different plumbing problems wearing one name. The East Side has genuinely old houses with heating systems that have been added to over a century. Federal Hill, Elmwood and the West End are dominated by three-deckers with the shared-system questions that come with them.

What ties them together is age. Very little of this housing is on its original plumbing and almost none of it was renovated all at once, so what is actually behind a wall is usually three eras of work spliced together.
