Plumbing & heating in Warwick
Bay-side neighbourhoods, a lot of converted summer cottages, and mid-century housing at scale.
Warwick is spread out and varied, but the thing that shapes its plumbing most is the water. A good deal of the housing along Greenwich Bay and down towards Conimicut and Oakland Beach started life as a summer cottage and was converted to year-round living later — sometimes much later.
Those conversions are where the interesting problems are. Pipework that was only ever meant to run from May to September ends up in an uninsulated crawl space in January, and a shallow addition put on in the 1960s will usually have a run in it that nobody has thought about since. It is the single most common reason we get a burst-pipe call from this town rather than another one.
Away from the shore, Warwick is post-war single-family housing at scale — capes and ranches on their second or third water heater, where the job is straightforward and doing it properly is the whole of it.
